Keihin carb

Hello again...
I am running an 82 keihin carb on my 68 fl...
I am using a pull spiral on the old bars...
The keihin carb has a very tough return spring
Making the throttle very hard to twist..
Seeing as the old type spiral has no return..
Would it be a good idea to remove the spring
And run without?
Any thoughts / experience with this set up?
