Original Wild Ones

Turns out the book 'The original Wild Ones', contains a quantity of fiction. Not just the Jack Lilly story, which was Bogus. The reference to "Alfred Crocker" is bad enough.

I posted on Instagram and the "community" got upset.

The business card appears to be a fake approximation to prop up the story. The actual address for the 'All American Cafe' was 1158, which was on the corner of Firestone, Manchester and Hooper. It was listed 1946 to 1949 in the yellow pages. Not listed in 1950.

I always loved the movie The Wild One. But I also always knew that the Hollister California motorcycle "riot" (which was likely the birth of outlaw biker culture) was extremely exaggerated complete with staged photographs and all!

When you say the "community" got upset, I'm sure you mean all the tough SAMCRO biker dudes right lol?!

The Booze-fighter stories fall flat.

Cameron said he bought a new 1939 Crocker with Hemi-heads. Here he is with a 1938, small tank, dual spring fork, parallel valve engine.

Cameron with what was supposedly the same bike. His Hemi head Crocker he raced in the late 1940s at speed of 116mph. The sign says it was a 1939 model.

Here is the engine Elmo Looper built in the 1940s. HD knuckleheads on top of a Crocker engine. Elmo died Nov 1969. Murray sold a Norton with this engine in 1970. John Cameron bought the engine from Chuck Vernon and then built a custom bike, shown in 'Big Bike' magazine 1972. Cameron did not race this engine at 116mph in the 1940s or own it. Pure fiction.
